Africoin as a digital money is an Internet-based medium of exchange distinct from physical notes or coins that
exhibits properties similar to physical currencies, but allows for instantaneous transactions and borderless
transfer-of-ownership.

Both virtual currencies and cryptocurrencies are types of digital currencies. Like traditional money these
currencies may be used to buy physical goods and services but could also be restricted to certain
communities such as for example for use inside an online social network.

Africoin Advantages and Features
1. Small total circulated coins - 50,000,000 coins
2. Easy convertibility from digital currency to fiat money.
3. Very large merchants base for spending your AFC
4. Fast growing ecosystem - AFC community growing at over 1,000 members weekly.

The Africoin AFC started at $0.001 per coin and it is expected to climb to at least $10 per coin before the close of 2017. Speculators and investors are already trading the currency for quick gains as the AFC community grows. At the moment the AFC has risen more than 2,000% within few weeks of pre-launch and this trend is expected to continue into mid 2017.

How do I make money from Africoin?
Holding some thousand units of Africoin AFC is a sure way to get out of poverty and become a multi-millionaire over a period of 6months or a year. This trend has been replicated severally and this is Africa's chance to also produce several millionaires from the digital currency experience.

To create wealth, buy at least 1,000 AFC and hold for a while (6-12months) for none traders while for speculators or investors, buy hundreds of thousands of AFC and sell step-wisely as the price increases. At this pre-launch stage, you can purchase AFC blocks at almost the #Genesis price of $0.01(N5) per coin. AFC blocks are in multiple of 50,000 coins (units).

Africoin is currently traded in several exchanges and speculators are pushing the price higher daily and the AFC community is growing helping to push the demand for the limited 50million coins higher. Prices are expected to climb above $10 before the end of 2017. Buying a block of AFC now for just about $500 will be valued for over $500,000 before the end of 2017. Only visionary investors can see this while the opportunity is open.

How do I buy Africoin?
You can also buy Africoin from members who have Africoins and are willing to sell to you. At the moment all 40,000,000+ coins are already distributed across the Africoin community.

During this pre-launch stage, you can buy Africoin Blocks for far less the current market price if you are a networker and can distribute the coins quickly. AFC blocks comes in 100,000 units

A 65-year-old woman is admitted to the hospital for a kidney transplant. Her son is brought in as the best available match as a donor.

As the woman’s doctor, you discover from the pre-op lab work that the daughter is not a suitable donor because she is not his biological son.
What, if anything, do you tell the woman, her husband, or the son?

Over 500 cows belonging to Fulani herdsmen were reportedly stolen in the Oke Ogun and Ibarapa Areas of Oyo state. the Chairman, Soludero Hunters Association, Chief Oladejo Oladapo and the President of the association, Chief Nureni Ajijola Idris, have advised the Fulani socio-cultural organization, Jamu Nati Fulbe Association of Nigeria not to take laws into their own hands. they stated that paramilitary agencies and the government are investigating the whole issue. they prayed the herdsmen to thread the path of peace. A committee was set up to look into the whole issue.

Reports from National Chairman of the Fulani herdsmen, Alhaji Saliu Kadir had complained bitterly about the insouciant attitude to the issue and had ordered the closure of all cattle markets in Ibarapa Area of Oyo state.
Will this lead to a dispute or will it be settled amicably?
 whats your take?
there is a popular saying that "leave the best for the last" i wanted to wait till the last minutes of today but cant hold it anymore. i met him for the first time when my Daddy, PST John Onekele  invited him during one of the 40days program.
i fell in love with his dress sense immediately, when i had the prices of some of his accessories. i fell deeper in love with him(forgive my english)
i remember when he spoke, it sparked something in me. i knew that am better than what and how i was living. He exposed truths about prosperity and you could see hunger and passion for GOD in his eyes.
i remember when he told me to read on a book "THE RICHEST MAN IN BABYLON" in did not drop it till i was done. it opened me to many things.

sir, i and the entire kogigists' crew thank you for every single advice you have given. may you never lack helpers, may God be your eternal reward, you wont fail your generation. your family will be proud to have you as part of them.

HAPPY EARTH DAY SIR

Attention of the Leadership of the National Association of Kogi State Students (KSUCHAPTER) has been drawn to a purported planned protest by some faceless and unidentified group of persons who described themselves as students of Kogi State, over the simultaneous industrial action embarked upon by Kogi State owned Tertiary Institutions Academic and Non-Academic Staff for non payment of eight months salary arrears amongst other demands. In view of the above, this is to inform members of the general public that NAKOSS KSU Chapter which is the umbrella body of Kogi State Students is totally unaware of this plan and thus seek to be disassociated from such. The post leading to this has been going on, on several media platforms.
I bear in mind controversies that are most likely to be surrounded by this disclaimer amongst which are blackmails and refusal to believe in the ingenuity of the purpose for this. We must however not relent in our bid to keep the reputation of the Association sacrosanct as we have a proper and matured means of communicating information on every given issue. As an association and a student body precisely we believe in the practice of due process, respect for constituted authorities, lay down rules and orders and as well as objective consultations. It is not untrue that even as individuals we have the right to demand for good governance and in particular security of our individual or collective rights but then we must try as much as possible to present our issues or grievances without deformation of characters or violating the right of others. The first step to be taken in a situation like this is the process of consultation which has already started from both the Student Leadership and University Management angle. Evident to this claim is the letter of appeal written and addressed to the Governor of Kogi State by SUG and NAKOSS KSU chapter on the need for quick response of government to the demands of both Unions and address other matters of students concern like that of the medical students who are stagnated at the pre-clinical stage of their study, this appeal was made in the best interest of the students as it is most disheartening that we who are at the receiving end of it all are made to go through this harrowing experience owing to strike action embarked upon twice just within
10 months. The need for this disclaimer and appeal for calm became pertinent because of the need to educate Parents, guardians, concerned security agencies, other constituted authorities and as well as the general public that we the students of Kogi Sate in Kogi State University Anyigba, will never get involved in any activity that will not guarantee the lives and properties of her members or pose threat to the fledgling peace in the state.
You may recall that Protest as a lawful means of seeking or demanding for right should be a last resort after all peaceful means of demanding for same has been exhausted. But with the consultation so far, assurance has been given that very soon government will engage leadership of both Unions in a holistic discussion geared towards addressing their demands. Our position is to always represent the interest of we the students and in this case express our obvious grievances arising from the inconveniences of the strike action and not to be used as an instrument by any of the parties to fight the other. It is very unwise, quiet embarrassing and not comprehensively objective for some faceless and specifically unidentified individuals who  describe themselves as stakeholders majority of whom are neither students nor legally constituted authorities to embark on an action such as this without proper consultations of neither the student leaders of affected institution nor congress. I personally have respect for every Kogi State Students and shall never be part of any activity that will jeopardize their right especially the right to quality education which is very fundamental. It is not always about me as a person but the office which is our collective wealth.

NAKOSS KSU chapter will always continue to work in collaboration with our principal student body which is the SUG under the able and visionary leadership of Comrade Shaibu Philip Omepa to ensure that the voice of the students are heard in every issue of general concern. Fellow students while the process of consultations continues and we patiently and diplomatically await the response of government to our appeal, we seek for your patience and understanding because as students we must always try no matter the situation to be ambassadors of peace, so that at the end of the day our studentship will be justified without doubt in our intellectual capability, quality of good character and patriotism as the leaders of tomorrow. Interest of few who are attention seekers must never be allowed to override our collective demands. The situation is
worrisome, this we are aware of but remember two wrongs can never make a right and there is no government at any level that does not have it flaws and this is the reason why your suggestions and constructive criticisms are always needed for the system to be right.
KOGI STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENT LEADERSHIP

In conclusion, Please inform others that despite our shortcomings, just like the way we have never failed to represent you well in the past when it comes to issues like this, we have no reason to comprise on your interest at this critical point. Remember we are all involved. My unalloyed loyalty and appreciation goes to the KSU SUG president, Comrade Shaibu Philip Omepa who in collaboration with my very humble self and other concerned persons has known no rest since the declaration of the strike action. Thanks and God bless us all bountifully.
– Abdulmalik Hadi Adinoyi.
NAKOSS President
KSU, Anyigba.

The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has given the Visitation Panel to the state-owned university, the Kogi State University, Anyigba, four weeks to complete its assignment and submit its report to the state government.
Governor Bello stated this while inaugurating the 8-man panel, which is to be headed by the Former Vice Chancellor of the Osun State University and present Provost of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) Academy, Prof. Olusola Akinrinde, at the Government House, Lokoja today.
He asked the committee members to be faithful and carry out their work with the highest level of integrity. The governor stressed that he expects the best from the panel given the professionalism exhibited by the members in their various fields of endeavour.
“I am a kind of person who gives people assignments if I am convinced they have the character and competence to do the work. I urge you to carry out your assignment with every sense of sincerity and without fear or favour”, the governor stressed.
Speaking earlier, the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Mrs. Ayode Folashade Arike PhD, said the recommendations of the National Universities Commission (NUC) on the composition of visitation panel to universities were followed to the letter. She said the objective of the visitation is to “assess the general administration of the institution and the management of resources as well as to identify areas requiring remedial action for the Visitor (the Governor) to issue the necessary directives.”
Dr. Arike listed the terms of reference of the visitation as follows:
a.       To inquire into the level of implementation of the White Paper on the last Visitation Report, if any
b.       To look into the leadership quality of the University in terms of the roles of the Governing Council, the Vice-Chancellor and other Principal Officers
c.       To look into the financial management of the University, including statutory allocations and Internally Generated Revenue
d.       To investigate the application of funds, particularly the Special Grants, Loans, meant for specific projects
e.       To examine the adequacy of the Staff and Staff Development Programmes in the University
f.        To determine the relationship between the University and the various statutory bodies it interacts with
g.       Determine the ‘Law’ establishing the University, including the relationship between the various internal organs, units and officers and indicate ways the Law has been observed
h.       To trace the historical evolution of the University and take stock of its net achievements and problems
i.         To examine the general security of the University, how it has dealt with it and recommend appropriate measures to deal with it
j.         To examine the processes and structures of the mechanisms of discipline of students in the University.
Responding, the Chairman of the Panel, Prof. Akinrinade, thanked the Governor on behalf of other members saying it is a privilege that will be taken seriously. He said the likely outcome of the visitation will have positive impact on the direction the university will take in years to come.
He stressed: “Properly utilised, visitation panels are preventive measures that assist institutions and their proprietors to take stock of their journeys, the performance of their systems and structures of governance and the various processes that facilitate the smooth running of an institution. The work of a visitation panel actually provides an excellent opportunity for institutions to engage in self-directed reflection and chart the way forward for the University.
“It is our hope that when completed, the report of this panel will assist the Kogi State University in moving forward.”
Other members of the Visitation Panel are:
1.       Prof. (Mrs) Ande Jane – Chartered Accountant
2.       Prof Yilkur N. Lohdip – Director of Academic Planning
3.       Dr. Ruqayyat Guri – Director, Student Support Services, NUC
4.       Barr. Femi Adegboyega – State Legal Adviser
5.       Arc. Tade Aimola – Architect
6.       Barr. Jili Dandam – Former Registrar
7.       Mr. Ajode Benjamin – Deputy Director in SSG’s Office and Panel Secretary.

Sequel to the unforseen resignation of the erstwhile Commissioner for Agriculture,  Dr Tim Nda Dichie two weeks ago, the Kogi State executive council under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello has  passed a resolution yesterday to adopt Bar. Kehinde Oloruntoba to hold sway for the time being.
Kehinde Oloruntoba who’s currently the Commissioner for Budget and Planning will now have to officiate over his extant ministry and also fill in the lacuna created by Dr Tim in the ministry of Agriculture.
While addressing the directors of the ministry immediately after the executive meeting yesterday, he appealed for their collaborative efforts to achieve the goals of the ministry as enshrined in the Governor’s blueprint program.
” Agriculture is the hope of Nigeria’s economy thus, the ministry of Agriculture is pivotal in the new direction map of the state government” he said.

Here are some facts from our common heritage that should make you proud to be called a Nigerian:
1. Nigeria is home to seven percent (7%) of the total languages spoken on earth. Taraba state alone has more languages than 30 African countries. The importance of this fact is appreciated when one understands that language is the “soul of culture” (as Ngugi wa Thiongo famously said). It is language that births the proverbs, riddles, stories and other aspects of culture that give us identity. UNESCO puts forward that the world’s languages represents an extraordinary wealth of creativity. Linguistic diversity correlates with cultural diversity. This means Nigeria can look inwards and drive itself to become the greatest hub for cultural tourism on earth, and consequently empower its citizens tremendously in the process.
2. The Walls of Benin (800-1400AD), in present day Edo State, are the longest ancient earthworks in the world, and probably the largest man-made structure on earth. They enclose 6500 square kilometers of community lands that connected about 500 communities. At over 16000km long, it was thought to be twice the length of the Great Wall of China, until it was announced in 2012 (after five years of meticulous measurement by Chinese surveyors) that the Great Wall is about 21,000km long.
3. The Yoruba tribe has the highest rate of twin births in the world. Igbo-Ora, a little town in Oyo state, has been nicknamed Twin capital of the World because of its unusually high rate of twins that is put as high as 158 twins per 1000 births. In a video I watched last year on YouTube presented by Titi (a white lady who speaks Yoruba), and which was centred on twin births in Igbo-Ora, one of the locals boasted that every family in the town has at least one twin!

4. Sarki Muhammad Kanta The Great of Kebbi, was the only ruler who resisted control by Songhai, West Africa’s greatest empire at that time. He founded and ruled the Hausa city-state of Kebbi around 1600 A.D and built Surame its capital, a planned city which was almost impossible to penetrate during war. In fact UNESCO describes Surame as “one of the wonders of human history, creativity and ingenuity”, and probably the most massive stone-walled constructions in West Africa. He is listed in Robin Walker’s 50 Greatest Africans.
5. Africa’s oldest known boat is The Dufuna canoe which was discovered in Dufuna village, Yobe state, by a Fulani Herdsman in May 1987, while he dug a well. Various radio-carbon tests conducted in laboratories of reputable universities in Europe and America indicate that the canoe is over 8,000 years old, thus making it the oldest in Africa and 3rd oldest in the world. The discovery of the canoe has completely changed accepted theories of the history and sophistication of marine technology in Africa.
6. Sungbo’s Eredo, a 160 km rampart equipped with guard houses and moats, is reputed to be the largest single pre-colonial monument (or ancient fortification if you like) in Africa. It is located in present-day Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State and when it was built a millennium ago, it required more earth to be moved during construction than that used for building the Great Pyramid of Giza (one of the Seven Wonders of The Ancient World). The most astonishing thing is that Sungbo’s Eredo was the biggest city in the world (bigger than Rome and Cairo) during the Middle Ages when it was built!
7. Sarki Abdullah Burja of Kano (ruled 1438-1452 AD), the 18th ruler of Ancient Kano, created the first Golden Age in Northern Nigeria and ushered in a period of great prosperity. During his reign, Hausa became the biggest indigenous language spoken in Africa after Swahili. He is on the list of 50
Greatest Africans in Robin Walker’s wonderful book, “When We Ruled”.
8. The Jos Plateau Indigobird, a small reddish-brown bird, is found nowhere else on the planet but Plateau state, Nigeria.
9. The Anambra waxbill, a small bird of many beautiful colours, is found only in Southern Nigeria and nowhere else on earth.
10. The Niger Delta (which is the second largest delta on the planet), has the highest concentration of monotypic fish families in the world, and is
also home to sixty percent of Nigeria’s mangrove forests. You should know too that Nigeria’s mangrove forests are the largest in Africa and third largest on earth.
11. According to the World Resources Institute, Nigeria is home to 4,715 different types of plant species, and over 550 species of breeding birds and mammals, making it one of the most ecologically vibrant places of the planet.
12. Ile-Ife, in present day Osun State, was paved as early as 1000AD, with decorations that originated from Ancient America suggesting there might have been contact between the Yorubas and the Ancient Americans half a millenium before Columbus ‘discovered’ America.
Now, what if we tell you seventy-five other amazing facts about Nigeria that The Green Heritage has discovered over the past eighteen months? Would you not be thrilled to watch a movie that resurrects and projects, in stunning visuals, the historical, cultural and natural heritage of Nigeria? This is the idea behind the movie project titled, “The Green Heritage 3D: 87 Marvels From Nigeria”. And the ball has begun rolling. A teaser that demonstrates some of the advanced 3D modelling and animation that would be partly employed to recreate parts of our heritage and project it to the world, has been uploaded on our YouTube channel. With a talented team of young Nigerian writers, programmers, artists, architects and producers, all given visual life to a massive amount of research about and for Nigeria, you can rest assured that this might just be the most important movie of our generation, from Nigeria.

Bitcoin jumped more than 2 percent Tuesday to its highest since Jan. 4 amid a surge in speculative activity in Chinese exchanges after a drop in China's foreign exchange reserves.

"The volume in the Chinese exchanges is starting to pick up again," said Brian Kelly, founder of Brian Kelly Capital and a CNBC contributor. He is long bitcoin and also noted the move comes as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission reviews an exchange-traded fund (ETF) that tracks bitcoin's price.

On Tuesday, trade volume in Chinese bitcoin exchanges such as OKCoin was 14,500, a level not seen since the end of January, according to market data site TradeBlock.com.

The rise in the digital currency followed overnight news that China's closely watched foreign exchange reserves fell by $12.3 billion in January to $2.998 trillion. Although the pace of decline slowed, the drop below the psychologically key $3 trillion level renewed attention on how much Beijing is struggling to support the yuan and prevent capital outflows.
JOHANNESBURG (AP) — More than 120,000 Nigerians likely will suffer "catastrophic" famine-like conditions caused by Boko Haram's Islamic uprising, among 11 million confronting severe food shortages this year, according to a new U.N. report.
The report from the Food and Agriculture Organization predicts Africa's biggest humanitarian crisis in northeast Nigeria likely will deteriorate during the "lean" food season between June and August.
"Trends show that food security and nutrition are worsening," it says. Some "8.7 million people are expected to be in crisis: 2 million in emergency and 121 000 in famine conditions, bringing the total number of severely food-insecure people to 11 million."
Worst affected is Borno state, the birthplace of Boko Haram, which may hold 65 percent of those "expected to face famine conditions."
U.N. agencies have reported that children already are dying in that region and some 515,000 face death if they don't get help.
Corruption and conflict between the government and aid agencies is compounding the crisis. Officials are investigating reports local government agencies are stealing food aid.
The Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello, has expressed the determination of his administration to make the state a hub of industrial activities, because of its strategic location in Lokoja, the state capital.

Bello, made this known to journalists during his maiden visit to the Nigeria-Korean friendship Institute of Vocational and Advanced Technology (NKFI) in Lokoja.

The institute which is a technical/vocational school, is committed wholly to the training of youths, middle and skilled man power.

It was established in Lokoja in 2010, by the South Korean government in partnership with the government of Kogi state, aimed at deepening the bond of friendship between Nigeria and South Korea.

The Principal of the Institute, Gabriel Okewu, in his address of welcome, gave a rundown of the institute, including the challenges it has experienced; one of which he identified as land disputes with the state polytechnic.

“I wish to express the profound gratitude of the management and members of staff of this institute to your Excellency for the prompt response in granting the needed fund for the take-off of the institute.

“We remain deeply grateful for the noble gesture which will go a long way in paving way for eventual commencement of academics programme in the institute.

He further stated: “We have commenced the process of registration of the institute with the corporate affairs commission and as demanded by the note.

“Hopefully and by the grace of god, we shall collect the certificate soonest for onward transmission to note the head office for scheduling of the date for the resource inspection and accreditation of the Institute.

The governor in his reply lauded the Korean government initiative leading to the establishment of the institute, while he assured the management of his readiness to take the institute seriously.

“Kogi State is set to overtake every other states in Nigeria, we are ready to take our destiny into our hands, we have the political will to ensure that this Institute works well.

“We will make judicious use of it to impact knowledge and skills into our teeming youths to better their lives and contribute meaningfully to the development of the state and Nigeria at large.” Yahaya said.

At the end of the speeches the governor and some of his cabinet members present, were taken round each department of the institute.

Furthermore, Yahaya promised to resolve the lingering land dispute, and promised to fund the institute.

“Before our second year anniversary this institute is going to be assembling vehicles here and we shall have ‘Made in Kogi’ vehicles, machines, shoes, and ‘Made in Kogi’ almost everything.”

Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to the Governor, on Multilateral Donor Agencies and special projects/focal person on social investment programmes, Adoga Ibrahim, told journalists that the institute would be used as a foundation for industrialization in the state.

“Part of the initiative is to invite automobile plant companies to see how they can establish a plant In Kogi state and begin to assemble vehicles.

“Kogi state has about 100 million in the Central bank of Nigeria (CBN), which you have graciously approved and given directive for the establishment of cassava processing plant at Egbeda-Ega in Ijumu local Government Area.

“We have also brought Kogi indigenes who invented cassava processing plant which you are going to see in action today, and fish-drying machine fabricated by this institute.

“We have direct talk with Korean government through their embassy and we have gotten an invitation to host them in a couple of weeks in Abuja.

“To whom much is given much is expected,” Adoga Ibrahim added.
My name is Sophia Adeola,I am a believer and a poet, from Kogi state. I was born on 5th October in Accompanied by my twin brother Louis Adeola.  I still live in Kaduna with my parents Mr. and Mrs. Hauwa Adeola and 5 siblings. I must say my childhood was not all rosy. Some events attended it that almost rendered my social life nonexistent, even though I was already a taciturn soul with melancholic tendencies.  I attended His Majesty nursery and primary school, but completed my primary learning at ' first Baptist. I had my Secondary education at Louisiana Academy. I'm currently a final year student at kogi state university, studying sociology.

I took interest in sociology being about interpretative understanding of social actions and causal explanations. Growing up, relating with people was really challenging for me. I was a victim of false prophecy ( long story, plus wish I knew then the things that I know now)that encounter robbed me of my teen years, those were formative years and all that encounter formed were barricades to my self-discovery.
I gave my life to Christ at age 12 and started writing at 17, didn’t know I had it in me, till I joined publications unit teens church LFC Kaduna. The unit helped ignite and harness my passion, while sold out Assembly gave my passion a platform.
To me Poetry is God’s gift; it’s also a form of therapy, an outlet that lets me share my experiences, the inspirations of the Holy Ghost and my perspectives about life. It (poetry) augments the world within me, really it does...

I remember when poetry became a calling. I'll never forget my youth pastor( Jenom Jaeh Williams) a life saver, whose impact in my life is one of the reasons why I'm a better version of myself. Thanks for all the grooming, all the drilling, for all the times I would slip right back into depression, it was easy cause that was my comfort zone but you never tired of pulling me out each time with your wise counsels and all, thank you. (I think we need to pay attention to the people God sends our way, to human relations, its one important aspect of life, not just socially)...
When I started writing poetry, I didn't see it achieving the results it’s achieved now. It’s fulfilling to know my poetry has a hold on people in a way that isn't just inspiring but life changing. I have had my share of struggles and insecurities, but I'm really glad I met the Lord at a young age He's been my rock.
I'll close this autobiography with an important turning point of my life. The day i realized that i was my own limitation. If you've ever been or still in a state characterized by a sense of inadequacy leading to depression, I hope you realize that God is your sufficiency. He is more than enough. If you're looking for a clue to the true meaning of life, I hope you know that life is more than meets the eye. And it takes the eyes of the spirit to read into its true meaning. In a nutshell it takes God, it takes Jesus, you should get to know Him if you don't...your life will be fraught with insights it won’t be void of challenges but you'll have the answer, your life will never remain the same.

"Live the life" - Spoken Word Poetry by Sophia Adeola
Police officers have gathered at the Gani Fawehinmi Park at the Ojota area of Lagos state, where protesters were matching to, from the National Stadium.

The uniformed men in their dozens, arrived in patrol vehicles and an armored truck to prevent protesters from converging.

Although regular activities still continue around the park which has been themed the ‘Freedom Park’, after hosting the famous ‘Occupy Nigeria’ protest in 2012, the uniformed men were seen urging passersby to keep walking as they discouraged any form of gathering.

Hundreds of protesters under the aegis of the #I Stand With Nigeria group, gathered early on Monday, to protest what they described as “unfavourable government policies” of the Nigerian government.
Popular Musician, Innocent Idibia, a.k.a Tu-Face, has explained why he is not physically present in the protests taking place in Abuja and Lagos state. he insisted that he is still in support of the rally but had only backed out for security reasons.

“I don’t have the sole franchise to protest so I’m still in support of them, I think its within their rights.

“I can’t tell anybody not to stand for what they believe in. For me, there were a whole lot of things I put into consideration. I noticed a whole lot of people were trying to hijack the process.

“I only decided to back out of the physical protest due to security reasons but it’s not as if I’m not still standing by the things I said or the things I believe about governance in Nigeria for a long time now.

“I want to make it clear, I was not arrested by the DSS, I am free, I am good, nobody intimated me, nobody harassed me, nobody paid me to start it in the first place and nobody paid me to stop it.

“I didn’t stop the protest I only stopped the physical convergence”.

The singer had started a movement “One Voice Nigeria”, and had planned to embark on the protest over what was termed “obnoxious policies” of the Federal Government, come February 6, 2017.

As at Sunday, he had denounced plans to go ahead with the protest after intense pressure was mounted on the group from the police as a result of security threats.
A civil society group, EnoughisEnough (EiE) Nigeria, has vowed to stage its planned protest on Monday in Lagos and Abuja despite withdrawal by hip-hop star Innocent Tuface Idibia.
Debisi Alokolaro, the spokesperson of the group, made this known in a statement released on Sunday.
Mr. Alokolaro said the ‘I Stand With Nigeria/One Voice Nigeria’ rally is being staged to protest the corruption and worsening standard of living under the Muhammadu Buhari administration at all levels of government.
On Saturday, hip-hop star, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as Tuface, had pulled out of the planned protest, citing security concerns.
But the group in its statement on Sunday vowed to go ahead with the protest despite the artiste’s withdrawal, adding that the protest has gone beyond Tuface.
“2face Idibia (2Baba) informed us late last night that on-going conversations with security agencies have not allayed his security concerns and so he had decided not to participate in a physical
protest,” ‘Yemi Adamolekun, the Executive Director of EiE, said.
“We thanked him for inviting us when he first decided on these protests, and informed him that we believe it is important, despite the risks, to continue with the demands, for the sake of the Nigerians who have put their trust in this movement.

“We will hold the Lagos Commissioner of Police and the Presidency to their words that citizens have the right to protest and that it is the responsibility of security agencies to provide security to all citizens.
“We have also continued to demand that Mr. President deliver on his promise to #BringBackOurGirls movement. It is important we continue to hold governments accountable and to vocalize the aspirations of a frustrated and disappointed people. This call has gone beyond 2Baba. It is now a Nigerian demand.”
The group berated alleged attempts by security agencies to disrupt its plans, stressing that freedom of expression through lawful means is a constitutional right of every Nigerian citizen which should be
protected.
“Furthermore, the implied attempt by some elements in security agencies to stifle the inalienable rights of Nigerians to freedom of speech and assembly cannot be allowed. We are in a democracy and citizens must be able to express their displeasure with their elected representatives in a lawful manner,” the statement said.
According to the statement, the group listed the issues to be addressed at the rally to include security, education, health, power and unemployment. Others include high cost of living, social justice, transparency, cost of governance and patriotism.
The group therefore called on participants in Lagos and Abuja as well as other parts of the country to join the protest as scheduled.
“The protests EiE is coordinating will hold at the Unity Fountain, Abuja from 9 a.m. and the National Stadium, Lagos from 8 a.m. We also encourage citizens who have mobilized in other cities across the country to come out and make their voices heard.”

Buhari Extends Return To NigeriaPresident Muhammadu Buhari has written to the National Assembly today, February 5, 2017, informing of his desire to extend his leave in order to complete and receive the results of a series of tests recommended by his doctors.

This is according to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina.

“The President had planned to return to Abuja this (Sunday) evening, but was advised to complete the test cycle before returning.

“The notice has since been dispatched to the Senate President, and Speaker, House of Representatives.

“Mr. President expresses his sincere gratitude to Nigerians for their concern, prayers and kind wishes,” Adesina stated.

President Muhammadu Buhari embarked on a 10-day vacation on Monday January 23 and was billed to return to work on Monday February 6, 2017.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has since been performing his duties as Acting President.

The President sent a letter to the National Assembly in compliance with Section 145 subsection (1) of the 1999 Constitution as amended, which mandates the President to transmit a written declaration to the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The short vacation is part of his 2017 annual leave.
Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, yesterday pledged his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, saying the state under him has continued to benefit from Tinubu’s wealth of experience.
Bello also affirmed his respect for the party hierarchy.
But he berated Senator Dino Melaye (Kogi West) for what he called the Senator’s unbridled media attack on his (Bello’s) person.
The governor spoke through his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Pius Kolawole, at a press conference in Lokoja, the state capital.
The people of Kogi West, Bello stressed, have never had it so good in the state with their sons occupying such positions as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and some key ministries unlike what obtained in the previous administration in Kogi.
He expressed surprise that instead of representing the interest of his people at the National Assembly well, Senator Melaye has been busy fighting ‘a selfish and egocentric’ cause.
He was particularly shocked by the alleged religious coloration which Melaye imputed into some of his (governor’s) actions.
Such imputations, he claimed, were capable of creating tension in an otherwise religiously tolerant state, like Kogi.
Kolawole, who was with the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters, Bello Abdullahi added: “Coming back home, we wish to reaffirm for the umpteenth time that His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello remains the number one leader of the APC in Kogi State, and there is no type of gimmicks adopted by Senator Dino Melaye and his cohorts can do.
“His Excellency also knows and recognizes Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the National Leader of our great party, the APC. We respect him, and we tapped from his resources and wealth of experience.
“We are also loyal to him and respect constituted authorities of the party. We will also stand by the authority and resist anyone that tries to use these resources negatively.
“The people Kogi West have not enjoyed any dividend of good representation from Dino since he was sent to the National Assembly.
“All he does is to engage in useless fight with colleagues and associates. Where is the quality representation he promised his people?
“Governor Yahaya Bello has flagged off numerous projects in the
senatorial district which Dino is supposed to be representing, yet he doesn’t see anything good in the government, simply because the governor has refused to be used to achieve the selfish interest by Dino Melaye”.
News from the desk of the Registrar Kogi state university, states that the school's academic board is not on strike. sources at Kogi State university senate building under the office of the registrar, stated that all students should be informed that the ASUU chapter of the university is not on strike as it is only NASU & JAC who are presently striking. So please ignore every rumor making the round about the institution being on striking action and with all hopefulness NASU &  JAC are likely to call off by Monday.

Contrary to this report, we received a letter showing the approval of the strike action by NEC. Still in doubt, let the letter speak for it

Dr. Usman Ogbo Breaking News: Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Kogi State University, Anyigba Chapter has been forced by the Kogi State Government to embark on an indefinite, total and comprehensive 'strike' action beginning from today Friday 3rd February, 2017. Recall that the Joint Action Congress (JAC) of all non teaching staff unions of the state owned tertiary institutions were equally compelled by the Kogi State Government and had embarked on similar indefinite 'strike' action since Tuesday 31st January, 2017.
KOGIGIST gathered today, a meeting was held by ASUU-KSU congress praying that NEC should grant the branch the permission to embark on a total and indefinite strike action. this is due to the non payment of outstanding salaries for over eight months. this was signed by the chairman ASUU-KSU DR D.O Aina.

Bello for his developmental strides and determination to reposition the state.
The motion was moved by the Majority Leader of the House and the member representing Kabba/Bunu State Constituency, Prince Yomi Kolawole.
In a unanimous decision, the House said the governor has created the right atmosphere for development in the state, hailing the Governor’s giant strides in his first 365 days in office under the New Direction Agenda.
The House said it is satisfied with the policy direction of the government and expressed readiness to cooperate with the governor to actualize his dream of developing Kogi State.
Reacting to the vote of confidence on Alh. Yahaya Bello by the House of Assembly, the Director General on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Kingsley Fanwo, hailed the House of Assembly for their “collaborative efforts at developing Kogi State”, saying the vote of confidence will spur the governor into “doing more for the good people of Kogi State”.

“Through the oversight function of the House, the governor has been able to achieve a lot. Governor Yahaya Bello will continue to work with the legislature to develop Kogi State.
Fanwo hailed members of the House for shunning party sentiments to receive the governor during his flag off of projects across the state recently and the commissioning of laudable projects, saying, the House members have “demonstrated their desire for a greater, better and prosperous Kogi State”.
“These are the true representatives of the Kogi people. These Honourable Members have shown they have the interest of the people at heart. The vote of confidence belongs to all Kogites who believe Kogi resources should be used for public good rater than to be used to service a few who have no interest of the people at heart.
“Governor Yahaya Bello wishes to assure the Honourable Members of the House that the Staff Verification Exercise which is in the last stage of listening to appeals, will be rounded off within the stipulated period in order to have a civil service that is capable of meeting the aspirations of the Kogi people.”
Not only has he virtually assumed the duties and responsibilities of the media and publicity team of the Yahaya Bello’s administration, by always appearing on television and radio programs to speak on behalf of the state government on important matters of governance and policies. The kogi state Chief of Staff to the kogi state government house, Edward Onoja who is a mere appointee that should ordinarily be in charge of the day to day running of activities, facilitate the movement of files and other documents through the government desk, ensure uninterruption of utilities  like water supply, power, food and refreshment, and coordinate the staff of government  house to ensure that they key into the policies of government has now been turned into the “boss” and almost becoming more powerful that the number one citizen of the state.

The influence and authority that the Chief of Staff wields is so much that all other political appointees, including the state’s Deputy Governor take orders and instructions from him. Edward Onoja is so powerful that he alone has the audacity to convene the state executive council meeting in the absence of the state governor, a duty which should constitutionally be performed by the Deputy Governor. The public were perplexed when a photo of the Chief of Staff sitting on the seat meant for the executive Governor, presiding over the state executive council meeting went viral on the social media.

It is no longer news that the activities of all the states ministries and agencies are directly overseen and presided over by the Chief of Staff. Administratively and financially, the twenty one local councils in the state takes direct orders from Edward Onoja who determines what gets done and who gets what. Many residents of the state and stakeholders are dumbfounded at the glaring political and constitutional aberration currently going on in the state, as it further reveals the lack of experience and basic knowledge of governance on the path of the leadership of the state. There is no provision in the Nigerian constitution where a Chief of Staff is allowed to act on behalf of the Governor, let alone sit on his seat. It is therefore irresponsible illegal and an assault on our constitutional democracy that this unthinkable is being allowed to take place in the confluence state.

There is a laid down code of governance recognized and allowed by the constitution, a deviation from it is tantamount to calling for anarchy. As things are presently, the Chief of Staff to the Government house calls the shot and not the state governor, Yahaya Bello. For a mere appointee of the Governor to be more powerful than his boss has exposed the immaturity and the disorderliness that reigns supreme in kogi state. Governor Yahaya Bello can best be described as a ceremonial Governor and a mere figure head, as major instructions, policy statements and formulations, allocations, appointments and executive orders emanates from the Chief of Staff.

What this means to the people of the Ebira dominated central senatorial district of the state which had agitated and waited for so long to finally have their own as governor of the state after twenty four years of its creation is that they will have to wait a bit longer to have a truly Anebira government that would protect their interests and correct the wrongs and injustices of the past administrations. As it is currently, Yahaya Bello may be the state governor on paper and by mere pronouncement, Edward Onoja is actually the person ruling the state, nothing has changed, power hasn’t shifted and constitutional democracy is under threat in the state.

Mr James Faleke, member of the House of Representatives and Deputy Governorship candidate to late Audu Abubakar, has criticized the leadership style of Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi. Faleke, who was answering questions from newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, after a closed door meeting with the acting President Yemi Osinbajo, noted that the state party structure under which Bello rode to power was crumbling.

According to him, an attempt by the governor to fish out ghost workers has pitched him against those opposing his administration in the state. “We came to the Presidency to let the Federal Government know what is happening in Kogi state as regards the fortunes of the party, the way it is dwindling day by day as regards the civil servants, the welfare of the people and their relationship with the state government.
“We specifically came to let the Presidency know so that when elections come and the party loses, no one should be blamed. We want an intervention from the Federal Government to find a way forward in this situation.

“The Governor of the state should recognize those who worked for the party and made the party to be successful. It is one thing to be victorious at the court level and another thing to carry the people along. “I want to use this opportunity to urge the Governor to carry the people along. This is the fifth time he is setting up a committee to review staff strength with so many screening every day, people are dying,’’ he said.

He said something needed to be done to salvage the situation, especially at a time when the pangs of recession were being felt by the people. He allegedly accused the governor of implementing anti-people policies, some of which were having negative effects on the people of the state. According to Faleke, the setting up of numerous staff screening committees whose reports he has not deemed fit to implement was unnecessary and diversionary. Faleke, who lost in an appeal case against Bello, urged him to carry the people along in articulating his policies, especially those that built the party structure in the State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Faleke was accompanied on the visit by some prominent citizens of the state including former ministers, former ambassadors, former National Assembly members and other important stakeholders in the state.
After a week of stability, Bitcoin has seemingly entered another rally beginning yesterday. The cryptocurrency is currently trading at $970 on Bitstamp with a healthy volume increase indicating an organic price rise.

Once again it is China that is leading this bull run as the price touched $1000 on OKCoin. Recently the PBOC cracked down on Bitcoin exchanges, and regulators forced the major players to add trading fees and implement stricter KYC / AML verification procedures. As a result, this time the volume has shifted to exchanges which haven’t implemented trading fees. The “big three”: BTCC, Huobi and OKCoin, are seeing their competitors such as BTCTrade, CHBTC, and BTC38 get a chance to claim a spot at the top.

WHY IS THE PRICE RISING?

There are different theories as to why Bitcoin has been performing so well this year. The most popular one that is being circulated in mainstream media, is that Bitcoin is a great haven for Chinese businessmen who want to evade capital controls. However, if that was the case then the recent crackdown by the PBOC would have sent the price plummeting down. While the crackdown news did cause the price to crash somewhat, it is clear that Bitcoin bounced back with little effort. If capital flights isn’t the reason for the current market trend then what could it be?

According to BTCC’s CEO Bobby Lee, one reason for Bitcoin’s success could be that “People are learning about Bitcoin from the media and having confidence in the technology, which then leads to more people buying, the price continuing to rise and more media attention.  The hype cycle continues.” To test this theory, we can take a look at a few metrics that can in a way, measure Bitcoin’s adoption rate. The below Google trends chart shows the popularity growth of Bitcoin’s interest over time, and it is clear that there is a slow but steady growth.

Another popular belief as to why Bitcoin’s price has been rising is due to recent political actions. Trump has enacted a ban for immigrants from seven countries (Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen), revoking them the right to enter the USA. Furthermore, Green Card holders will need to be evaluated on a case by case basis before entering the US. While such actions may not directly affect Bitcoin, the uncertainty of what is to come ahead is causing much distress in traditional stock markets.

Since cryptocurrency always had an inverse relation with stocks, it was only natural that it would see a positive trend. As Trump starts imposing more taxes on remittance, and more tariffs on Chinese importing and exporting, people will expect more similar actions. Any increase in taxes will only put more attention on Bitcoin as it is the only form of currency which is borderless and is extremely resilient to taxes.

Yay! February is here and the the year is finally really kicking off! I say this because for many the year is just about to really kick start because January is usually very slow business wise.
Here's wishing you an amazing February full of love, laughter and pleasant surprises. And for Val, if you’re single don’t let the  fever get to you. Its just another day and if you can afford it you can show love to your siblings, parents and even best friends etc. In fact I am of the view that anyone who can afford it should show love not just to their spouse and lovers but others too. Have a great month people, God bless you all!
